On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is typically the most well-attended Sunday service of the year for Christian churches.
Christians believe according to Scripture, that Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion, is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. Through his death, burial and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus. (this copied from about.com)
What a beautiful holiday!!! We are so thankful for the life of our Savior and His enduring sacrifice. Today we have the privelege of attending church services and enjoying a beautiful meal together with family. We are especially blessed this year to be able to spend it with extended family in another state. We are thankful that they so graciously welcomed all of us. Hosting a famiy of eight is no small sacrifice.
We have also tried to allow our kids to indulge in the fun side of the Easter holiday with egg hunts and Easter baskets. We do these all on Saturday. Each year we hold a grand Easter egg hunt for neighbors, friends and family. We love to do this. We have a continental breakfast for all that includes cinnamon cakes, breakfast casseroles, fresh strawberries and juice. Yum!! Then we divide up all the kids in different age groups and off they race. Each group has a golden egg hidden in their field. The child that finds this gets a special prize when they bring it to me. Every year the prize changes and fits the age group. We left for vacation a few hours after the breakfast/hunt ended.
I got sick on the way down in the car and had some troubles last night. I am feeling some better this morning and I am hopeful that I am on the way up to feeling whole. Sweet Brian has been so kind and patient.
We feel so blessed this special day!!
Mandi and Sarah are finding eggs!
Ryan is having a good time
Kids start heading back inside to sort their bounty
Thanks! That was fun!!
*Later tonight I will post pictures of the family from today*

So sad we missed THE BIG HUNT, but we are so grateful that our kids were able to participate. I love that you do this every year!
